If they were avoiding chains, I understand. And they’ve been doing their thing since 1947. Kermit’s has been doing their deal since 1966. They have a to-go order phone that rings almost constantly, and even though the place is already loud, it manages to break through the noise and shatter your nerves. But to me, if nostalgia is not accompanied by excellent food, what is the point? And along with that nostalgic atmosphere at Kermit’s comes the loudest phone you will ever hear. If you are going to Kermit‘s for nostalgia, I get that. I actually had to go to the counter to get a refill and find out how to pay my bill. My server was very sweet, but after she delivered my order, she never checked on me once. The tater tots were perfectly cooked and not greasy. The burger also had a good flavor but also was nothing to get excited about. It caused the bun to liquefy and the entire thing to fall apart. itself had a good taste, and the chili did as well. It’s just not worthy of a top 10 hot dog designation. I’m thinking they must’ve only gone to 10 places. Kermit’s earned a spot in Our State Magazine’s Top 10 hot dogs joints in the state. I could have purchased steak dinners for 3 for that price. Definitely never going back here! Nasty ordeal and way overly priced for crappy hood quality food. The crack addicts hanging out on the block were another thing to worry about as well doing their deals across the street. I was not happy at all with the mysterious extra 7 dollar charge on my card or the price of this crappy tasting food. Chili was slung on the dog in the middle on top of the slaw which made the slaw warm and beneath the warm chili. 40 bucks for 6 weenies and some frozen crinkle fries with no seasoning salt or salt just plain and cold and the buns on the hot dogs were very hard and stale tasting as if they were out in the air all day. My cell phone notification of the actual charge says 39 dollars and some change. The receipt says 32 dollars and some change. She just charges my card and hands me a receipt. I pull up and call back and a lady comes to take my debit card. She said okay and told me to call them back once I pulled up at their curb service. ![]() It was 30 mins before their closing time at 9pm on. She asked me how long will it be before I get there.
